ABOUT
Simona Ahrnstedt, born in Prague, was brought to Sweden by her parents as a very young child. Fleeing the invasion by the Russians of their beloved homeland, the family found peace and freedom in their new country. Simona went on to become a licensed psychologist and is now also one of Sweden’s best-selling authors. Ahrnstedt’s rich and captivating character depictions, paired with her provocative and skillfully executed plots, breathed new life into the growing genre of Scandinavian women’s fiction. Her heroines have elevated and popularized Swedish Romance fiction.

Simona is an avid feminist and a passionate gardener; she lives just outside Stockholm and is the proud mother of two young adults. She is deeply happy when enjoying a fika in her weekend gardening plot or in a Stockholm café. Her TV watching is eclectic and she sadly but candidly confesses to avoiding any form of exercise.

The books
After publishing three historical romance novels—Arrangements, Coercion, and
Scandalous—Simona embarked on a new adventure, forever changing the Swedish
publishing scene.

In 2014 she launched her first contemporary novel, the initial stand-alone installment in her High Stakes-series: All In. This book was a huge success, selling to over 20 territories and garnering a starred review in the U.S. when it was released as the first ever Scandinavian Romance novel. This title was later followed by Falling in 2015, which also received a starred review and was called “outstanding.” The final
installment of the series, High Risk was published in 2016.
Her novel All In was featured in TIME Magazine’s recent list highlighting the Best 50 Romance novels. This list was curated from Romance releases throughout history, taking into account factors such as ingenuity, commercial success, acclaim and impact. Ahrnstedt’s novel is described as “a riveting, high-stakes love story that helped popularize the Romance genre in her home country of Sweden.” She’s lauded for the way she “imbues emotional depth in the high-powered lovers, who each have their reasons for seeking revenge.”
In 2025, she is celebrating her 15 th anniversary as a writer in a dynamic Swedish publishing landscape that she has helped to create. Currently she is working on a trilogy about a young woman, Charlie, who is convicted of crimes she didn’t commit and who is seeking the truth behind the events. The first volume is Charlie’s Revenge.
